The KC Tribe defeated the Nebraska Stampede 88-0 last Saturday night to improve to 4-0 on the season.  The Stampede elected to receive the ball after winning the opening toss.  A well executed kick-off return took them well inside Tribe territory to start the opening drive.  However, the Tribe recovered a fumble inside the 15 yard line, and the offense took the field.  Jenny Schmidt connected with Liz Sowers on the opening pass of the game for an 87 yard touchdown.  Larisha Graves added the two point conversion with an end around run.  On the next drive, Schmidt again connected with L Sowers on a 10 yard strike, and then Katie Sowers found Melissa Piper for the conversion to make the score 16-0.  After a touchback, the Stampede turned the ball over again, and the Tribe ended the first quarter at mid field.

Schmidt located Guscott across the middle on the opening drive of the second quarter.  This time K Sowers kept the ball on the conversion, to make the score 24-0.  On the next offensive series, Schmidt connected with Regan Cambell, in her first game back this season, and first reception nonetheless, for a 74 yard touchdown pass.  Katie Sowers hit sister Liz Sowers in the back of the endzone to improve the score to 32-0.  The Tribe's defense forced a third Stampede fumble on the next series and took over inside the Stampede's 15 yard line.  After Graves took the ball to the one yard line, Schmidt again found Campbell in the endzone, Graves added the two point conversion, to put the Tribe up 40-0.  On the ensuing possession, the Stampeded turned the ball over a fourth time on a fumble.  Jenny Schmidt threw an 18 yard TD pass to Katie Sowers, and then another Sowers to Sowers 2 point conversion occurred to make the score 48-0.  On the final drive of the half, Schmidt again connected with Liz Sowers on a 15 yard slant route into the endzone.  Amanda Sweeten added the PAT, to send the Tribe into the locker room with a 55-0 lead.

The second half featured some big runs by Larisha Graves.  She opened the first series with a 51 yard TD run.  Sweeten added the extra point and the Tribe led 62-0.  Nebraska managed to make it into Tribe territory with a fake punt that led them to the 25 yard line.  However, the Tribe D responded with two big tackles for a loss to force the punt.  After Liz Sowers' punt return was called back on a penalty, she caught a 44 yard touchdown pass from Schmidt.  After Sweeten's PAT, the score stood at 69-0.   On the final series of the quarter, Campbell intercepted the ball across the middle of the field and returned it for another score - after a failed PAT - the score stood at 75-0 heading into the final quarter of play.

Liz Sowers added the remaining scores of the evening with a 41 yard TD reception from back-up QB Katie Sowers, and a "pick 6" for 47 yards, to which Sweeten added the extra point for a final score of 88-0.  Schmidt finished the game 15/22 with 358 yards and eight TDs.  Liz Sowers scored six touchdowns on 7 receptions and 224 yards.  Graves added 149 yards on nine carries, with one TD on the night.

Defensively, the Tribe recorded its fourth shut-out of the season, forcing four fumbles and two interceptions (both returned for scores).  Magdalen Obiefule finished the evening with 12 tackles, Mindy White, Kennisha Walker, and Katie Sowers added 10, 9 and 7 respectively.

The Tribe travels to Chicago, Illinois this weekend to take on the Chicago Force.  The game will be broadcast via internet at http://chicagoforcefootball.com.
